Critical Analysis

I focus in the # 5 of the ten point agenda of president Gloria Arroyo. Which stated The provision of electricity and water supply to barangay's nationwide. My critical analysis is this, many barangay's in this country still don't have the complete supply of electricity and water, even though their is a budget of this. If there is a supply of water, yet, this contain of dirt or what we called "pito-pito". This can cause disease for us, especially to those malnourished children in barrio-barrio. They don't have enough food and vitamins, then added the not safety government water? what will happen to them? the government is also responsible of this, so they must take some actions.

In electricity? there are some places here in Mindanao which also don't have the supply of electricity. Government keep ignoring this situation, and what is worst of this, is that, those who don't have electricity are those who are in need of this.

National Situation

The Philippines is a democratic country, which people have the freedom to speak and express their opinions. People do protest it’s because they don’t listen to us. Is this a kind of democracy? Where people have the right to express, but then government don’t hear us… this is the time were poverty of our country is a huge problem nowadays. Many of us are suffering from poverty because many people don’t have a permanent job. Yes, PGMA have some job opportunities, but the sad thing of this is that, JOB IS HERE BUT DON’T HAVE ENOUGH SALARY, that is why many Filipino professionals are going abroad to find permanent work and a good salary income for each of their family. The goods are highly increased in the super market, tuition, and daily expenses are most expensive right now. And I am very sure that some of this is the reasons why Filipino professionals are going abroad.

Talking about those who are uneducated and poor people. Poverty will be the cause of this. Poverty is deprivation of common necessities that determine the quality of life, including food, clothing, shelter and safe drinking water, and may also include the deprivation of opportunities to learn, to obtain better employment to escape poverty, and/or to enjoy the respect of fellow citizens. As I do some researched in the cyberspace, According to Mollie Orshansky who developed the poverty measurements used by the U.S. government, "to be poor is to be deprived of those goods and services and pleasures which others around us take for granted. My analysis of this is that, if we are in the stage of a poor level, the common necessities that determine the quality of life that stated while ago will take away to us or deprived for us. And according to the law article 3 Bills of rights, sec. 1. No law shall be deprived of life liberty or property without due process of law, nor shall any person be denied in the equal protection of the law. So, even we are poor, still we have the right all of this.

As I been watching the TV patrol news yesterday. I was shock about the news. This talks about the “killing of the three (3) kids by their mother due to extreme poverty.” The wife committed suicide by ingesting toilet bowl cleaning fluid in the food of her kids. The children were brought to a provincial hospital but were declared dead-on-arrival. The mother was also rushed to a hospital but died along the way. Mantes, the husband, that his wife complained to him about the P1, 000 debts they owe, which was gaining interest. Other than that, Mantes said he and his wife had no other problems. The debt was probably the main reason that drove Jennet to commit the crime. And according to the law Article 3 bill of rights, Sec. 20. It stated that “No person shall be imprisoned for debt or non-payment of a poll tax. But maybe because jennet is an uneducated person, she didn’t know the Law. Mantes and his eldest child will undergo counseling at the local social welfare office to help them heal from the trauma brought about by the incident.

In a related development, former President Joseph Estrada blamed the government for the economic condition that pushed Jennet to kill her children and herself. Estrada said in the news I’ve seen, he has never seen such desperation arise out of poverty in his more than 30 years in public office. And this is a real tragedy.

To evade severe poverty and to have a good living in the future. We, People, must be patient in completing education for the next generation it is not hard for us to apply job opportunities here in our county and abroad. As the education is main important for the development of the country, government should give top priority for education in budget and allocate more funds, and it should make ensure that the allocated funds are utilized properly and every citizens should take initiative in donating some part of their earnings to the NGO's or the non- government organization.

This is also addressed to those who are in the government. They have the responsibility to do the task without doing some corruption. Ruling this society is hard to think, but as a student of Harvard university, Which PGMA came from, well, for me, she can handle this country better.

We and the government should have the unity to achieve the goal of attainment. Hoping that in this coming next election, maitaguyod ng tama ang ating pamahalaan ng tamang mga tagapamahala at hindi kurakot sa bayan, ng sa gayon ay hindi maghirap ng ganito ang ating bansa at wala ng taong magugutom pa.
